The City of Aurora, IL Youth Services Division runs the annual Aurora Sports Festival for 7th and 8th-grade students, drawing over 1,200 participants who compete in basketball, soccer, softball and tennis for the Al Miller Cup.

Year-Round Leagues and Summer Basketball

The city maintains recreational youth sports leagues and camps serving ages 3 to 18. Summer coed basketball runs from June 6 to July 25, with registration handled through Active Net. These offerings form the steady base that lets families plan around school schedules without added cost barriers.

Targeted Free Clinics and Golf Event

Aurora youth ages 6-13 can join a free soccer clinic with River Light FC players on June 29 at Spartan Athletic Complex, which also supplies free tickets to the team’s final home game. Separately, the inaugural Chicago Junior All-Star Championship took place at Phillips Park Golf Course from June 15-18 and featured 96 elite junior golfers ages 12-15 in partnership with the American Junior Golf Association.

We Are Aurora Youth Summer Program

The We Are Aurora Youth program supplies free entry, staff-led activities in basketball, volleyball and esports, plus free meals for youth ages 13-18 at recreation centers during summer break from May 26 to August 7. These elements together illustrate how multiple city divisions coordinate to sustain participation without requiring individual fees.

Families interested in the remaining summer basketball sessions can register through Active Net on the city recreation site. Details on the We Are Aurora Youth schedule and locations appear on the official auroragov.org youth services pages.
