Aurora Youth Sports Programs Keep 1,000+ Kids Active This Summer
Local programs from the City of Aurora Youth Services Division and partners deliver recreational leagues, festivals and clinics that keep young residents active through the summer.
How we reported this
The City of Aurora Youth Services Division hosts the annual 32nd Student Sports Festival at Phillips Park, where over 1,200 student-athletes from 14 middle schools compete in basketball, soccer and tennis. This event forms one part of a wider network of youth activities that connect families across the city.
Programs Serving Different Age Groups
Aurora Youth Sports runs recreational leagues and camps for participants aged 3 to 18. Its summer coed youth basketball leagues for ages 4-7 operate from June 6 to July 25, 2026. A separate free soccer clinic for youth ages 6-13 took place on June 29 at the Spartan Athletic Complex in partnership with River Light FC, with participants receiving free game tickets.
Events at Phillips Park and Recreation Centers
The inaugural Chicago Junior All-Star Championship is scheduled at Phillips Park Golf Course from June 15-18 and will feature 96 elite junior golfers ages 12-15. The We Are Aurora Youth program supplies safe after-school and summer break activities for ages 13-18 at recreation centers, including free meals, staff-led sports and esports from May 26 to August 7, 2026.
