Washington leads Aurora Sports Festival with 120 points across 12 events

Washington finished first in the Aurora Sports Festival with a total of 120 points. The team posted the highest marks in mile run, volleyball and golf while adding points in basketball, checkers, chess, soccer and tennis.

The results matter now because Aurora maintains a year-round schedule of youth competitions that rely on shared fields, courts and tracks maintained by the city. Families and coaches count on those sites staying available through summer and fall seasons when school teams rotate through multiple sports.

Local teams and scoring breakdown

Thirteen Aurora programs took part, each fielding entries in bags, basketball, bowling, checkers, chess, golf, in-line skating, mile run, soccer, softball, tennis and volleyball. Washington earned top marks in three events and placed in eight others for the overall win. Holy Angels followed with 109 points after strong finishes in bowling, tennis and in-line skating. Aurora Christian collected 95 points with wins in basketball and volleyball plus solid showings in several other categories. Simmons reached 70 points and Jewel totaled 76.

Lower totals still reflected steady use of the same local facilities. Annunciation scored in in-line skating, mile run and volleyball for 30 points. Jefferson earned points in basketball, bowling, checkers, soccer and volleyball. Every listed school recorded at least one event score, showing the breadth of access across Aurora venues.
