Aurora Aquatic Centers Launch Daily Swim Classes for All Ages
Group classes at city pools now run daily sessions tailored to families, adults and seniors seeking regular water-based exercise.
How we reported this

Aurora residents registered 1,850 spots for summer group swim sessions by the end of June, a 22 percent increase from the same period last year at the city's two main aquatic facilities.
City officials attribute the jump to expanded morning and evening slots that fit work schedules and school breaks, along with lower-impact options that appeal to participants recovering from injury or managing joint conditions. The programs operate from the Aurora Aquatic Centre on River Road and the Parkview Pool in the North End, both managed under the Aurora Parks and Recreation Department.
Daily Schedules at River Road and Parkview
The Aurora Aquatic Centre on River Road runs a 7 a.m. lap-and-learn class for adults on weekdays, followed by family relay sessions at 10 a.m. that include children as young as five. Parkview Pool in the North End hosts a 6 p.m. senior water-walking group on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays that draws 45 participants each week, plus a mixed-age stroke clinic on Tuesdays that caps enrollment at 30. Both sites opened their 10-week summer blocks on July 1 with fees set at $48 per person.
Registration and Access Details
Online sign-ups through the Aurora Parks portal close once each class reaches capacity, with remaining openings listed daily on the department's site. Walk-up registration is available at the front desks on River Road and at Parkview until 5 p.m. each weekday. Residents who need equipment such as pool noodles or kickboards can borrow items on site at no extra charge.
Anyone interested in joining should check current availability on the Aurora Parks website or call the River Road centre at 555-0142 before heading out, since several evening slots already show waitlists for the week of July 13.
